Manbo Wong has been a professional water color artist for over 40 years. Upon graduation from the Grantham College of Education (Hong Kong) in 1960, the artist studied water color painting with water color master Maytin Kan and sister Szemei Kan, as well as oil painting with Mr Fung Kwok-Fun. Striving to capture the essence of both Chinese and Western painting styles, he subsequently studied Chinese painting under the instruction of two great masters of the Lingnan School, Chao Shao-An and Yeung Sin-Sum.

In 1976, Wong founded his Greenfields Art Studio on Prince Edward Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and has had over 25 years of teaching experience.

Wong's art career traced back to the Joint Exhibition by Ten Artists at the Hong Kong City Hall in 1964, which marked the debut of his works together with nine other dedicated young artists. Thereafter, the artist has had 12 solo as well as joint exhibitions with students in New York, Vancouver and Hong Kong. Wong emigrated to Canada in 1993 and is now residing in Vancouver.

As you look at Wong's work, you see that his paintings are result of years of hard work and dedication, which pave an artistic journey which has been going on for over 40 years. Capturing the vivid colors of western styles with the subtlety of the Chinese brushstroke, he creates a unique style that transcends both Western and Eastern characteristics of water color painting. The paintings selected for this website also reflects his passion for traveling. As he left marks across Asia, North America and Europe, the intensity of his paintings has always been able to convey beautifully the spiritual essence of the landscapes he visited, and the mood has always been tranquil and serene.

黃文波先生從事水彩畫研究，凡四十餘年。黃氏一九六零年畢業於香港葛量洪教育學院，隨即追隨水彩畫大師靳微天、靳思薇兄妹研習水彩畫，後又從遊於油畫名宿馮國勳老師門下；七零年初，再拜嶺南派大師趙少昂、楊善琛習藝，以求盡覽中西畫技奧秘。十年磨劍，轉益多師。加之勤於實踐，夙夜匪懈，筆不離手，每有長假，從不放棄旅遊，如古人所言：看盡群山打草稿。遊歷對畫人之重要，一若活水之於游魚。心中無畫，何以產生優秀作品。

黃氏於一九七六年，於香港九龍太子道，創設田園畫苑，舊時桃李，今已競吐芳華。

一九六四年，他與九位醉心藝術青年，於香港大會堂，首次舉辦十青年水彩畫聯展，此後他曾先後於紐約、溫哥華、香港舉行個展及師生聯展十二次。九三年移居加拿大溫哥華。面對大自然美景，更為樂此不疲。
